View All »Corn Plus penalized $891K
February 8, 2010 A variety of alleged water-quality violations at Corn Plus in Winnebago will cost the company nearly $900,000. The owners of the ethanol facility have agreed to pay a $200,000 civil penalty and complete a Supplemental Environ-mental Project (SEP) totaling no less than $691,000. The agreement reached with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is to resolve violations of environmental permits obtained from the agency. February 8, 2010 Blue Earth — Marianna Eiselt, age 81, of Blue Earth, died Jan. 29, 2010, at home surrounded by her family, following a lengthy battle with Mesothelioma. Funeral services were held Feb. 2, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Rev. Mark Wilms officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements. » Full Story

February 8, 2010 Blue Earth Area found themselves down by 13 points at half time against the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial (LCWM) Knights in girls basketball last Monday night. The Bucs were looking to get off to a fast start in the second half to try and get back into the game. Instead it was the host Knights who scored the first six points of the second stanza, putting the Bucs down by 19 points with just over 14 minutes left in the game. Done. No Chance. Not a prayer.
