Pirates cruise to three more wins, enter playoffs

The Blue Earth Pirates are on a roll this year, and they continued it last week with three more notches in the win column.
They defeated Lake Crystal twice, and New Richland once, in a four day stretch.
On July 10 they blasted Lake Crystal 12-0 in Blue Earth.
Cody Sukalski pitched all seven innings and scattered three hits in the shutout.
Todd Rasmussen had the hot bat with three hits in four at bats. Sukalski was 2 for 3.
The Pirates had three runs in both the first and second innings, and added one in the fourth and five in the fifth.
The next day, July 11, the Blue Earth town team defeated New Richland 11-3 in a nine inning game.
Aaron Wendt pitched all nine innings for the win. He gave up ten hits that led to the three runs. He also struck out 11 batters.
The game was tied 3-3 after four innings but the Pirates got three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and four in the eighth.
BE Pirates win tournament
Although they suffered their second loss of the season, the Blue Earth Pirates went on to win the Welcome baseball tournament over the Fourth of July weekend.
The Pirates lost a heartbreaker to Fox Lake on Friday, July 4.
Becker quarterbacks All-Stars
Blue Earth Area graduate and football star Logan Becker got a chance to put on the pads and play one last high school football game.
Becker was the starting quarterback for the Outstate All-Stars team last Saturday.
Pirates win, lose; record now at 17-1
The Blue Earth Pirates pounded out 14 runs on their way to a big 12-3 win over the Cleveland Spiders on June 29.
Four Pirate pitchers saw action in the game.
Pirates’ perfect record hits 14-0
Defense in the form of a couple of key double plays helped the Blue Earth Pirates push their record to 14-0 as they defeated Morristown 6-4 in Blue Earth Wednesday night.
