Minn. Senate settles lawsuit from fired staffer

September 26, 2013
Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Senate has settled a lawsuit brought by a former staffer who was fired after he had an affair with the chamber's majority leader.

Michael Brodkorb will be paid $30,000 in the settlement both he and the Senate announced Thursday.

Brodkorb argued he was wrongfully terminated after the affair was exposed. Senate leaders had insisted his firing was lawful but the case had cost the state more than $300,000 in attorneys fees.
