Several of the founding members of Go Minnesota got a chance to sit down and tell U. S. Senator Amy Klobuchar what is on their minds.

The discussion came at a small roundtable visit with the senator hosted by Ag Star in Blue Earth on Monday afternoon.

Go Minnesota’s Executive Director, Doug Uhrhammer had a chance to tell the senator how the privately formed economic development group got started and what their goals are.

“I saw a county that wasn’t functioning together when I first came here,” Uhrhammer told the senator. “We need to get everyone connected and working together – and that is a big challenge.”

John Rivisto, general manager of Wells Concrete, told Senator Klobuchar about his company’s recent expansion in Albany.

“We built a new plant and employ 250 people there,” he explained. “It was there I first dealt with a private development group. They showed me why I needed to grow my company there, and helped me do it.”

Revisto says he was so impressed with the group of business leaders in the Albany area that he was determined to form a similar group in Faribault County.

That is exactly what he and Jeff Lang of United Hospital District, Keith Kor of Corn Plus, and Bill Eckles of BEVCOMM did.
