The City of Winnebago will hold a public hearing to accept comments on the Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan. The Facility Plan, prepared by Bolton & Menk, Inc., addresses capital improvements, such as process equipment, structures, utilities and support systems, that are necessary to maintain essential infrastructure. The improvements being considered include modifying the plant to remove phosphorous and to replace and rehab all equipment that is at or near the end of its useful life. The cost of the project will likely be financed with money from the Minnesota Public Finance Authority to be repaid with proceeds from Sewer Utility Charges.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend the public hearing and provide comments. You may submit written comments, which must be received no later than May 4th, 2010.

BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D.#2860 was held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Blue Earth Area District Office, Blue Earth, MN.

Present were School Board members: F. Bly, T. Cahill, M. Eckhardt, D. Fellows, V.Hanson, J. Haugh,S.Becker

Absent: None

Also attending were Supt. Brandsoy, members of the press, staff and public.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairperson Bly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

On a Haugh/Hanson motion the board approved the amended agenda. Unanimous approval.

Public Input: Concerned parents addressed the board regarding the reduction in staff hours in the music program. Teacher Alicia Corbett read a statement to the board.

On an Eckhardt/Cahill motion the board approved the minutes of the Monday, March 8, 2010 regular board meeting. Unanimous approval.

On a Fellows/Haugh motion, six transfers/wires and payment of bills in the amount of $1,093,133.76 were approved. Unanimous approval.

Chairperson Bly congratulated Superintendent Brandsoy for being selected “Administrator of Excellence” for Region 2 of the MN Association of School Administrators.

Superintendent Brandsoy gave his report. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Volunteer recognition event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28th from 4:30-6 p.m, to honor our over 100 volunteers who help out at the district throughout the year. Non-certified staff negotiations has begun. Dale updated the board on the Flexible Learning Year (FLY) being proposed by 25 school districts in southwestern Minnesota.

There was one committee report, Dr. Cahill updated the group that a new director had been hired for SPEC.
