The Blue Earth Area girls tennis team split their two matches at the Le Sueur-Henderson Tennis Tournament on Friday, Aug. 26.
The Buccaneers lost to Holy Family 6-1, but turned around and swept the host Giants 7-0.
The Bucs upped their season record to 3-2.
Kaitlyn Olsen was the only Buccaneer to notch a victory in both matches.
The BEA ninth-grader was locked in a battle with another freshman, Gabby Carter in the No. 3 singles match versus Holy Family.
Olsen lost the first set 6-4, but bounced back to take the second set 6-3 and the third set 10-6.
One other match went to three sets.
At No. 3 doubles the Buc team of Beka Krussow and Natali Fellows lost their first set against Libby Moakley and Erin DeNucci 6-3.
The Buc duo came back and won the second set 6-2. They battled in the third set but fell 10-8.
In the sweep of LSH, the Bucs did have a couple of close matches as well.
One of those was at No. 1 singles, where Karleigh Wolff won a hard-fought first set 7-5 over Sara Mootz.
Wolff fell 6-3 in the second set. A third set went to 11-9 before the Buc’s freshman claimed the win.
Abby Nimz won at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-4 over Carlie Brandt.
At No. 3 singles, Kaitlyn Olsen notched her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Briana Williams. Her sister, Karli Olsen, won by the same 6-2, 6-2 score over Kat Chadwick.
Autumn Drake and Lindsey Prokop teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Callie Belter and Elle Hammes in a long battle, 7-5, 1-6, 10-7.
Buc eighth-graders Anikka Wilhelmi and Anne Franta dispatched two seniors, Libby McCoy and Tone Sinell, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, Beka Krussow and Natali Fellows downed Kaitlyn Hank and Katie Pfarr 6-2, 6-0 to complete the 7-0 win.
This week the Buccaneers are scheduled to travel to St. James on Thursday.
