Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the United Church of Mapleton. The Rev. Carl DeLine officiated. Visitation was one hour prior to service at the church. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Olson Tichenor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kermit was born Jan. 15, 1926, to Clarence and Edith (Lind) Larson, in Osceola, Polk County, Neb. He graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1943. Kermit served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 and spent time in Libya, England and Greenland. He was united in marriage to Mabelle Rue on Feb. 12, 1955, in Riverside, Calif.
Kermit was a member of the United Church of Mapleton, Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, and Farm Bureau and had held offices in all of them. Kermit was also a member of the American Legion of Delavan.
Kermit was a farmer in the Mapleton area. He retired in 1991 and for 15 winters Kermit and Mabelle lived in Mesa, Ariz. He enjoyed square dancing, scroll saw work, stained glass work and enjoyed visiting with family friends.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Mabelle; son, Denton (Lisa) Larson, of Arlington; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Schulte, of Omaha, Neb., Donna (Byron) Torell, of Stromsburg, Neb., and Jeanne Hellerich, of Lincoln, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Rosetta Larson, of Carson City, Nev.; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Martin B. and stillborn twin brother; brother, Merlin Larson; and nephew, William Hellerich.
