Florence E. Jose, 97

Blue Earth – Celebration of life service for Florence E. Jose, age 97, of Blue Earth, was held Oct. 6, 2011, at the Fairmont Baptist Church, in Fairmont. Burial followed the service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, in Fairmont. Florence passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont assisted the family with arrangements.

Florence Elizabeth (Closs) Jose was born May 14, 1914, on the family farm in Nashville, Township, the daughter of Adial P. and Laura A. (Swant) Closs. As a young girl, Florence attended country school district #27 in Nashville Township and later district #28 in Center Creek Township and later graduated from Granada High School.

Following her graduation,?Florence attended LaMont Beauty Academy in Fairmont and worked at several beauty shops in Blue Earth and Fairmont before her marriage.

On Dec. 18, 1945, Florence was united in marriage to Burton Harland Jose, Jr. in Fairmont. Together the couple made their home on a farm near Huntley. They later moved to Huntley after purchasing the Huntley Implement dealership. To this union, one daughter was born.

Florence was very active in the Assembly Church in Granada, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, VBS teacher and where ever she was needed. She was also active in the Covenant Church in Huntley before moving to Fairmont and becoming a member of the Fairmont Baptist Church. Her family and their activities was the focus of her life. She had an outgoing personality and became friends to many.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ardell (Jim) Blekfeld, of Swea City, Iowa; two granddaughters, Lori (Scott) Foster, of Winnebago, and Kari Werth, of Blue Earth; two great-grandsons, Derek Foster and Ryan Foster (special friend, Whitney King); special cousins, Evelyne (Homer) Bell, and Norma Fish; as well as many other family members and friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Myrtle Cartwright, and Mae Teubner; and two brothers-in-law, George Cartwright, and Joe Teubner.

The family requests memorials be given in Florence’s name to KJLY Radio, Blue Earth, MN or Fairmont Baptist Church, Fairmont, MN.
