Rochester – Sister Tressa Piper, age 68, died Oct. 7, 2011, at the Motherhouse in Rochester. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis for 51 years.
Peggy Ann Piper was born in Delavan on Nov. 11, 1942, to Geneva and Claire Piper and graduated from BEHS in 1960. She received degrees from the College of St. Teresa, Mankato State University, and the University of Wisconsin. Sister Tressa was a teacher, principal in Waseca and Glencoe, a librarian and Alumni Director at St. Teresa, and served students in Japan, Guatemala, and Columbia. She was Activities Coordinator at Assisi Heights plus several other sites in Rochester.
Sister Tressa is survived by four brothers and two sisters:?Paul, Pierre, Preston (Lois), all of Minneapolis, Paige (Betsy), of McLean, Va., Patricia, of Rochester, and Paulette Schwen, of Apple Valley; and a sister-in-law, Marinez Piper, of Brazil. She has many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her Franciscan Sisters.
Her parents and two brothers, Philip and Padric preceeded her in death. Sister Tressa enjoyed reading, traveling and sharing her many life experiences.
A funeral liturgy was held on Oct. 11, 2011. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, in Rochester.
