Blue Earth – Rose Conklin, age 99, of Blue Earth, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral Services were held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. The Rev. Joel DeNeui officiated. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Fairmont. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the service time on Saturday, at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Blue Earth.
Rose was born Feb. 21, 1912, in Avon, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Lydia (Hinzmann) Pudwill. She was raised in the Avon area where she attended country school. She was married to Lewis S. Conklin on Oct. 27, 1941, in St. James. The couple lived in Fairmont where she was a homemaker and later moved to Blue Earth. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Fairmont and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Blue Earth. She was also a member of the Birthday Club, Women’s Missionary Group. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, sewing and crocheting. She made the best coffee cakes, cinnamon rolls, and thee best raspberry jam.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Judy Wiltse, of Blue Earth, and Ruth Westman, of Prior Lake; sister, Johanna Pudwill, of Tyndall, S.D.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; infant grandson; two son-in-laws; two sisters; and five brothers.
