The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer and United South Central Rebel girls basketball teams will once again be competing in the St. Clair Holiday Basketball Tournament this week.
The Bucs and Rebels will be playing in St. Clair on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 27-29.
The Buccaneers won the tourney last year.
Action for BEA will begin on Tuesday night at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the lower gym at St. Clair High School.
The Bucs will take on Minnesota Valley Lutheran in this game.
If the Buccaneers win, they will play at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday night. If they lose the first game, they will be playing at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
BEA will face either Canby or Maple River in the second game.
The Bucs’ game on Thursday night will be sometime between 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., dependent upon the outcome of the previous two night’s games.
The USC Rebels start their tournament action with a game against host St. Clair at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the upper gym.
The Rebels will face either Hayfield or Tri-City United (TCU) in the second game, on Wednesday, at either 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., depending on whether they won or lost the first game.
TCU is a new team, the result of the consolidation of Montgomery-Lonsdale and Le Center schools.
The Rebels third game, on Thursday, is also dependent on the outcomes of the first two games, but will be between 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
The four games on Thursday will be for the championship, consolation, third and seventh place.
“I think this year’s tournament should be a good one,” says BEA head coach Al Cue. “There are several good teams capable of winning it.”
