Elmore – Margaret Mary Severson, age 99, died peacefully Friday, January 13, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Memorial Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Byron. Father Paul Surprenent officiated. Visitation was held before the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date in Isle.

She was born on September 7, 1912 to parents Phillip and Katherine Rauen of Adams. She married Julian Severson on January 7, 1939. They lived and raised two sons in Elmore before retiring on Mille Lacs Lake near Isle to a life of community volunteering and fishing in 1974. Wherever she went in life, she easily made friends and always brought a smile to all those who knew her and fondly remembered her.

She is survived by two sons, James (Carolyn) of Byron and Terry of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Justin (Tina) of Miami, Fla., Kent (Karla) of Byron, Amy (Brandon) Slaughter of Miami, Fla., and Kim (Peter) Matus of Salt Lake City, Utah; and six great grandchildren, Daniel and Athena (Justin and Tina), Riley and Savanna (Kent and Karla) and Olivia and Arianna (Amy and Brandon). She is also survived by her sister Gertrude Loecher, her brother Joseph Rauen, and many relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and five sisters, husband Julian and their first born son, Jarold, who passed away shortly after birth.

The family prefers memorial donations be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
