Gilbert, Ariz. – Ronald E. Young, age 82, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Valley, Lund Home in Gilbert, Ariz., on Jan. 17, 2012.
Ronald was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Elmore and graduated from high school in Blue Earth and spent four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Maureen L. McGoff of Blue Earth in 1957 and lived in Bloomington for 45 years. During that time he enjoyed traveling in his motor home and the friendships he had with the Dan Patch Hiking and Camping Club for 26 years. When he retired he moved to Trilogy in Gilbert and pursued making stained glass windows and genealogy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen; his daughters, Katherine of Knoxville, Tenn., Mary, of Tempe, Ariz., and Traci (Rob) Lampert, of Chandler, Ariz.; grandson, Jon, of Knoxville; granddaughter, Natalie Lampert, of Chandler; two sisters, Collen Zeisz, of Alameda, Calif., and Maurine Hoffman, and sister-in-law, Doris Young, of Blue Earth; and also extended family members.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. and Katherine Young; and brother, Renwick C. Young.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
