Gymnasts fall just short in SCC meet against New Ulm Eagles
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers fell just short in their attempt to defeat the New Ulm Eagles in Winnebago on Feb. 3.
The Eagles won the close South Central Conference matchup by a score of 132.75 to 130.375.
The Bucs were led by Chante Anderson who took first place in all-around with a total score of 34.2.
Anderson grabbed first place on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 8.95.
She was also second on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.0. Anderson was third on the balance beam with a score of 7.85.
BEA’s Cassie Thompson took first place on the vault with a score of 9.1, just beating out New Ulm’s Molly Klimek who had a 9.0.
Thompson was also first in floor exercise with a 9.05, this time just edging out her teammate, Anderson, score of 9.0.
She was also fourth on the bars with 7.85.
Thompson scored a 33.275 in all-around, good for fourth place.
The Bucs Marissia Hagedorn held on to take third place on the vault with an 8.95 score from the judges. Haley Resutek took fourth with an 8.85
New Ulm was led by Cassie Forst who took first on the beam and second in all-around. The Eagles’ Emily Gulden was third in all-around.
The Bucs hosted the South Central Conference conference gymnastics meet on Friday, after this week’s Register deadline. Details will be included in next week’s edition. The Section competition starts this Friday for the gymnasts.
