Kathryn A. Cherland

Forest Lake Kathryn Ardis Cherland passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Feb. 29, 2012, at her home in Forest Lake.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time was from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Blue Earth, and one hour before the service at the church.

She was born in Radcliffe, Iowa, on April 18, 1916, to Anton and Alma (Handeland) Peterson. She graduated from Delavan High School and Mankato School of Beauty. She worked as a hairdresser for 47 years. She married Wayne Cherland on July 8, 1939, in Algona, Iowa, and they were married for 51 years before his death in 1990.

Kathryn is survived by two daughters, Carole Nelson, of Osseo, and Carna (Greg) Brandt, of Forest Lake; three granddaughters, Jodi (Pat) Sullivan, Katrina and Karissa Brandt; one grandson, Ryan Brandt; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Sullivan; two sisters, Evelyn Abram and Diane Schaper; two brothers, Raymond (Arlene) Peterson, and David (Florence)?Peterson; sister-in-law, Marjie Peterson; brother-in-law, Richard (Margaret) Cherland; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to Wayne, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and one brother.

She was a woman whose faith was uppermost in her life and has been a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a compassionate friend to many.
