Tomah, Wis. Ruth E. Milbrandt, age 92, of Tomah, Wis., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at the Greenfield House.
She was born Dec. 11, 1919, to Charles and Dora (Banker) Milbrandt, in Elmore. She graduated from Elmore High School in 1937 and attended two terms of agriculture school in St. Paul.
Ruthie worked at an orphanage in St. Paul for a few years. After graduating from Mounds Park/Midway Nursing School to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, she went to work at Mounds Midway Hospital in St. Paul where she was employed for 30 years. She left her job to return home to care for her father in 1973 until his death in 1977. Ruthie then returned to Mounds Midway where she worked as an LPN until she retired in 1984. She moved to Tomah in 2003 to be closer to her family. Ruthie was an avid gardener and was happiest when she was among children. She enjoyed her final years at the Greenfield House near Tomah, where she appreciated the wonderful care she received.
Ruthie is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and her Greenfield House family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Irene Milbrandt, Wesley Milbrandt, Rev. Paul Milbrandt, Marjorie Wulkan; an infant brother, Harold Milbrandt; a niece and nephew.
The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with private arrangements. Internment will be in Riverview Cemetery,?Elmore.
