BEA comes up short at invite

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva edged the Buc girls track and field team at a quadrangular meet held April 27 at Wilson Field in Blue Earth.

The Panthers tallied 75 2/3 points, while BEA 69, Martin County West 60 and Madelia/Truman 50 1/3.

Senior Courtney Grandgenett led BEA with two first-place performances in the distance races.

Mariah Twedt competed in the shot put at the Buccaneer quadrangular held April 27 at Wilson Field.

Grandgenett crossed the finish line in 2:37.2 to win the 800-meter run and 5:56.8 in the 1,600-meter run.

Skylee Bell won the 100-meter dash in 13.1 seconds and was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.9 seconds.

Taking second place in the 100 was Erin Olson in 13.6 seconds and Miranda Johnson claimed fifth in the 200 in 28.6 seconds.

Chante Anderson was first in the 100-meter high hurdles in 17.1 seconds, while Zoe Thompson was fourth in 18.3 seconds and Sierra Halvorson fifth with 19.1 seconds.

Halvorson finished first in the 300-meter low hurdles in 54.7 seconds, while Thompson took fourth in 58.2 seconds.

In the triple jump, Nyla Anderson was second with a distance of 28 feet, 11 inches and Sydney Henningsen took fifth with 27-4 1/2.

Miranda Johnson's leap of 13 feet, 9 inches was good enough for second place in the long jump, while Bell finished fourth overall with a mark of 12-8 3/4.

Annmarie Hoyt's heave of 82 feet, 7 inches was the third best overall in the discus and Hannah Twedt's toss of 26 feet, 7 inches gave her fifth place in the shot put.

Paige Darrington cleared the bar at 4 feet, 6 inches for a fourth-place finish in the high jump.

The Bucs had two second-place finishes in the relays.

Darrington, Hoyt, Sara Warmka and Bell posted a time of 56.2 seconds in the 4 x 100.

In the 4 x 200, Darrington (30.4) teamed up with Erin Olson (29.8), Warmka (30.5) and Miranda Johnson (29.6) for a time of 1:59.6.
