Bucs 4th, Rebels 6th at Section meet

The Buc boys track and field finished in fourth place at the Section 2A True Team Meet held Thursday in Mapleton.

Winning the team title and qualifying for the State Meet was Mankato Loyola with 683 points.

The Bucs tallied 631 points, while United South Central was sixth with 469.

BEA did well in the sprints, taking first place in three events.

Nick Beattie was clocked in 11.27 seconds to win the 100-meter dash, while Isaac Darrington was third in 11.52 seconds.

In the 200-meter dash, Jacob Olson had a first-place time of 23.62 seconds, with Beattie grabbing third in 24.10 seconds.

Olson took first in the 400-meter dash in 52.66 seconds, while the Rebels Tyler Lackey was third in 53.41 seconds.

Senior Jake Zebedee returned to the lineup after suffering a slight hamstring pull about three weeks ago.

Competing in his specialty, Zebedee won the pole vault competition with a height of 12 feet. Taking third was USC's Skylar Peterson with a height of 11 feet, 6 inches.

Darrington cleared the bar at 6 feet to win the high jump.

Senior Josh Johnson took first in the shot put with a toss of 51 feet, 10 inches, while fellow senior teammate Sam Lee was third with 47 feet, 9 inches.

Johnson also claimed fourth place in the discus with a distance of 137 feet, 9 inches.

In the long jump, BEA's Taylor Olson was fourth with a leap of 18 feet, 8 1/4 inches, one spot ahead of Beattie who had a mark of 18 feet, 4 3/4 inches.

The Rebels Dylan Baumann crossed the finish line in 2:09.43 to take fourth place in the 800-meter run. He also finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:45.

The Bucs passed the baton in 45.30 seconds to win the 4 x 100-meter relay.

BEA also took first in the 4 x 200 with a time of 1:37.02.
