With only one of its members cracking the 100 score level, the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers were unable to come close to the Fairmont Cardinals in a dual meet at the Interlaken Golf Club last Tuesday.

The Cards came out with a big 371-425 victory over the Bucs.

"This outing was a bit disappointing for us at this point in the season," Buccaneer head coach Al Cue says. "We are only two weeks away from postseason matches. Hopefully we can figure some things out especially with our short game over those two weeks."

Leading the way for the Bucs was Autumn Drake who came in with a 94 (45-49) for the 18-hole dual.

Natali Fellows carded a 101 (50-51) to take the second spot on the Bucs' team total.

"Autumn overcame a couple of tough holes to shoot a decent score," coach Cue comments. "Natali battled her way to another good round."

Rounding out the team total for BEA was Allie Curtis who came in with a 111 (54-57) and Aeli Olson who carded a 119 (61-58).

The Bucs other varsity score came from Anna Aukes who shot a 144 (82-62).

This week the Buccaneers travel to Waseca on Tuesday, Jackson County Central on Thursday and GHEC on Friday.

A meet set for Monday against Mankato West has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 22.

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team tied with Luverne for sixth place at the Fairmont Invitational Golf Tournament held on Saturday, May 5 at the Rose Creek Golf Course.

The Bucs and Cards both scored a team total of 403 for the sixth place slot out of the 11 teams participating in the tourney.

The Buccaneers were led by Allie Curtis who took second place overall with a great round of 86 (42-44).

Autumn Drake came in with a 92 ((48-44) for second on the Bucs team.

"Allie really had a great day, earning the second place medal," Coach Al Cue says. "Autumn was again steady."

The other two scores for team total came from Natali Fellows who carded a 109 (45-59) and Aeli Olson who shot a 121 (59-62).

"Natali continues to improve her average each time out," Cue notes.

Other Buc varsity players were Emily Davids who came in with a 123 (57-66) and Anna Aukes with a 144 (70-72).

"A 403 is a pretty good score for us, on this course," Coach Cue says. "There were some weather issues late in the round and the girls handled them well."

Windom won the tourney with a team total 371, with host Fairmont right behind with 377 for second. Jackson County Central claimed third just one stroke back at 378.

Waseca was in fourth with 385 and Marshall fifth at 387.

After BEA's and Luverne's 403, Worthington was in eighth place with 422, Redwood Valley ninth with 424, St. Peter 10th with 434 and New Ulm in 11th with 469.
