The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer girls golf team defeated the Waseca Bluejays 392 to 407 on the Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore last Tuesday afternoon.
"The girls had a very good meet," Buc coach Al Cue says. "Pretty much top to bottom, the girls played well."
The Bucs were led by Autumn Drake who came in with a 90 for the 18-hole meet. Natali Fellows carded a 95 to claim the second low score for BEA.
Allie Curtis shot a 97 and Aeli Olson a 110 to add up to the Bucs team total of 392.
The other two varsity golfers were Emily Davids who came in with a 112 and Anna Aukes who carded a score of 117.
"Waseca has put up some good scores this spring, so I'm very happy to get this win," Cue says. "Hopefully, we can use this score to start our run into the post season."
On the boys side, the Bucs got a stellar performance from Andy Aukes who fired a 75 (36-39) to claim medalist honors in a dual meet with Waseca.
But, it wasn't enough for the Bucs to claim a win and the Bluejays prevailed 322 to 336 last Tuesday.
Slater Petersen added an 83 (41-42) and Derek Abel carded an 87 (47-40).
Logan Jacobs, playing on his home course at the Minn-Iowa course in Elmore, came in with a 91 (47-44).
Waseca had scores of 79, 80, 81 and 82 to win the meet.
"The boys played well at Minn-Iowa today against Waseca," Buc coach Travis Armstrong says. "We were close to our goal of three scores in the 80s and one in the 70s. Hopefully we can build on this match as we enter the post season next week."
Other BEA varsity scores were a pair of 95s from Zach Curtis and Trevor Zierke. Curtis shot a 50-45 while Zierke reversed it with a 45-50.
The Buccaneer junior varsity won a thriller by one stroke over the Bluejays, 225 to 226.
