Wells Kenneth LeRoy Walker, age 79, of Wells, died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 11, 2012, after a battle with heart disease surrounded by his loving wife, stepdaughter and son-in-law.
Funeral Services were held May 16, 2012, at United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Paul Woolverton officiated. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells was in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth was born May 11, 1933, in Delavan, to Delbert and Eunice (Roupe) Walker. He attended District #47 country school for six years and Delavan Public School for six years. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a nursery supervisor for Vaughan, Inc. in Fern Park, Fla. He was married to Yvonne "Vonnie" Schmidt on Sept. 26, 1998. Ken loved gardening and crafts, playing cards, making quilts, spending time and traveling with his wife Vonnie. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was a member of Wells United Methodist Church and the Delavan American Legion.

Ken is survived by his wife, Yvonne; step-children, Janice (Don) Cook and Shirley DuBois; one brother, Francis (Janet) Walker; one sister, Norma Zimmerman; one sister-in-law, Delores Walker; one brother-in-law, Jerry Hargraves; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roland; his first wife, Lorraine; stepson, David Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Frank Zimmerman.
Memorials are preferred to Freeborn County Hospice.
