The Blue Earth Area girls golf team had four members get under 100 at the South Central Conference Meet, giving the Buccaneers a second place finish at the conference meet.

The Bucs scored a 378, just behind Fairmont which carded a 365 to win the conference.

In third was Waseca at 383, St. Peter came in fourth with 414, New Ulm fifth with 442 and St. James sixth with 479.

The conference meet was held last Monday at St. James.

For the second golf meet in a row, the Bucs were led by Natali Fellows, who scored a 92, putting her in a tie for fourth place.

Right behind her were teammates Autumn Drake with a 93 and Allie Curtis with a 94. Drake was tied for sixth while Curtis claimed ninth place.

Aeli Olson's 99 was the fourth score used for the Bucs' team total.

Anna Aukes carded an even 100 and Emily Davids came in with a 126.

"I am very proud of the girls for their efforts in this meet," Buc coach Al Cue says. "They really came to play. This 378 is a very good score for us."

For three girls Fellows, Olson and Aukes their scores were personal bests.

"We weren't able to catch Fairmont, but maybe scared them a little," Cue says. "Fairmont really played great on the second nine and earned the win."

The coach says he hopes to carry the momentum of the conference meet into Sub-Section play this Tuesday at Mankato.

Three Buc golfers claimed All-Conference honors by their season scores.

Drake was fourth in the conference with 86 points, Curtis was sixth with 79 and Fellows was tied for seventh with 78.

Mankato West 381, BEA 425

The girls played Mankato West in a dual meet Tuesday at Mankato's North Links course.

Mankato West came out with a 381-425 win over the BEA girls.

"This was a disappointing meet for us," Coach Al Cue says. "A day after playing so well at the conference tourney, we really struggled, shooting 47 strokes higher."

Autumn Drake and Allie Curtis both shot 98 to lead the Bucs.

Aeli Olson added a 110 and Anna Aukes a 117 for the Bucs total. Emily Davids carded a 141 on the day.

Holly McKissick of Mankato West was medalist with a 92.

While the Buc mentor was disappointed he did see some things to be encouraged about. "On the positive side, the girls got to play the same course they will play in the Sub-Section Tournament," Cue says. "Hopefully, the experience will help us score much better in that meet."

JCC 188, BEA 205

The girls golf team shot a good score at Jackson County Central on Thursday, May 17, but it was not good enough.

The Bucs shot a 205, but the Huskies carded a 188.

"The team score of 205 is not too bad of a score," Buc coach Al Cue says. "Their course can play pretty tough and it was extremely windy."

Natali Fellows came in with a score of 47 to lead the Buccaneers.

Autumn Drake and Allie Curtis carded identical scores of 49, and Aeli Olson and Emily Davids both came in with identical scores of 60.

Anna Aukes was in with a 62 score.

"JCC is a good team, led by one of the better golfers in the state," Cue says. "The girls kept the meet respectable. Natali is really becoming a consistent threat as the season progresses."
