The Blue Earth Area boys track and field team sent several athletes to the Section 2A Championship held Saturday, June 5, at Mankato West High School in Mankato.
The Bucs claimed six individual titles and a relay first-place finisher during the Sub-Section Meet held May 24 in Fairmont.
The top four place winners in each event and top two relays advanced to the section meet.
Senior Josh Johnson led the way with a first-place toss of 49 feet, 8 inches in the shot put and a winning mark of 142 feet, 9 inches in the discus.
Taking second in the shot put was senior Sam Lee with a distance of 48 feet, 2 1/2 inches, while Steven Plocker was third with 43 feet.
Lee claimed third in the discus with a heave of 124 feet, 10 inches.
Isaac Darrington cleared 6 feet to win the high jump, and senior Jake Zebedee took first in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet, 6 inches.
In the long jump, Taylor Olson was second with a distance of 18 feet, 4 1/2 inches, just ahead of runnerup Nick Shure with 18 feet, 1 1/2 inches.
Shure added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 7 1/2 inches.
In the sprints, Nick Beattie was clocked in 11.77 seconds to win the 100-meter dash, while Jacob Olson had the fastest time in the 200-meter dash with 23.52 seconds.
Brandon Olson was fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 18.51 seconds.
Jake Wagner took fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:08.46 and Mike Ankeny covered 1,600 meters in 4:58.72 to claim fourth place.
The 4 x 100-meter relay of Beattie, Justin Ritter, Jacob Olson and Zebedee combined for a winning time of 45.55 seconds.
