The USC Rebels girls golf team will be sending three golfers to the State Golf Tournament, while the Blue Earth Area Buccaneers will have two there.
Rebel golfers Ali Wood, Veronica Schindler and Kyley Bullerman qualified for State at the Section 2A tournament Monday at North Links Golf Course in Mankato.
Wood shot the low round of the day, 88. Schindler came in with a 92 and Bullerman carded a 94.
For the BEA Buccaneers, Autumn Drake and Allie Curtis both qualified for the State with their play at the Section 2AA Tournament held Monday at the New Prague Country Club.
Drake shot a 91, good for fifth place, while Curtis came in right behind her teammate in a tie for sixth with a 92.
"Autumn really battled her way around," BEA coach Al Cue says. "She fought with her driver all day, but really stuck with it."
A birdie on her 17th hole of the day was a key to her advancing to State, Cue notes.
The Buc mentor says Curtis was steady all day.
"Allie didn't do anything flashy," he says. "But she was pretty consistent throughout the day."
Cue says Curtis has worked hard all year.
"I'm very happy for her," he adds.
Other Buccaneer golfers included Natali Fellows who carded a 99, Aeli Olson with a 115 and Anna Aukes with 116. "Natali had a tough second hole," Cue says. "But she stayed with it and broke 100. She made great strides this season and is just an eighth grader. I look for good things from her in the future."
Cue says it was a great accomplishment for Olson and Aukes to qualify to play at the Section Tournament.
"They both improved their games during the season and shot at or below their average on a difficult course," the coach notes.
The State Golf Tournament is June 12 and 13. The Rebels will be playing at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, while the Buccaneers will be at The Ridges at Sand Creek course in Jordan.
