PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The City of Blue Earth is hereby notifying residents of a public hearing that will be held on Monday, June 18th, 2012 at 5:05 p.m. in the Blue Earth Council Chambers, located at 125 West 6th Street. The hearing will be held in front of the Blue Earth City Council allowing citizens to make comments on the draft City Land Use Plan addendums. The addendums are for the purpose of updating the existing land use plan. This plan establishes goals, activities, and recommendations for City actions for the next ten to twenty years. The current Land Use Plan was adopted in 1997 and many of the goals set then, are reality today!

A copy of the addendums is available at City Hall for public review or on the City Web Site www.becity.org. Should you wish to comment on the proposed addendums, please plan to attend this hearing.

PUBLIC HEARING

The Faribault County Planning Commission will hold a Pubic Hearing on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Conference Room of the Faribault County Ag Center, Blue Earth, Minnesota, to take public testimony and recommend to the Faribault County Board of Commissioners to adopt a new ordinance, pursuant to the consistent with the authority of Minnesota Statute 394.26(2), 1979 and otherwise in such cases provided by law. It is the purpose of this ordinance to regulate adult oriented businesses in the County, to promote heath, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of the County and to establish reasonable uniform regulations to:

Prevent additional criminal activity in the county;

Prevent deterioration of the county and its consequent adverse effect on real land values of properties within the county;

Prevent concentration of adult oriented businesses within certain areas of the county, and

To promote social order, public health and to protect citizens, including their children, within the county.

The proposed ordinance is available to be reviewed in its entirely in the Faribault County Auditor's Office, the Faribault County Planning and Zoning Office and on the Faribault County SWCD/Planning and Zoning website: faribaultcountyswcd. com

BLUE EARTH AREA SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Blue Earth Area, I.S.D #2860 was held on Monday May 14, 2012 in Blue Earth, MN.

Present were School Board members: J. Haugh, T. Cahill, M. Eckhardt, D. Fellows, V. Hanson, F. Bly, and S. Becker.

Also attending were Supt. Brandsoy, Principals Grant, Eustice, & McGuire, members of the press, staff and public.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairperson Bly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

On a Fellows/Cahill motion the board approved the agenda. Unanimous approval.

Public Input: None

On an Eckhardt/Hanson motion, the board unanimously approved the minutes from the April meeting.

The board unanimously approved nine money transfers in the amount of $ 1,060,137.81 Becker/Fellows motion

Superintendents Report: The district would like to thank all of the volunteers that help throughout the school year.

Principal McGuire reported that the last service learning day went well. Mr. Grant and staff member Moen were present and discussed the new math text books. Principal Eustice thanked the organizations that put on the academic and athletic banquets. Also he acknowledged that almost $50,000 was given in scholarships to BEA students from area businesses and individuals.

Ryan Hoffman was present to talk about the rebidding of the HVAC project at the k-8 building.

On a Cahill/Haugh motion the board entered into a shared services agreement with Maple River in their community ed. department.

Sharon Hoyt was present to update the board on the wellness plan.

On a Hanson/Eckhardt motion the board unanimously approved the Health and Safety Policy.

The board approved a date change for the June board meeting in Elmore to Tuesday June 12. Fellows/Haugh motion.

The board approved an early out for June 1st to allow for staff development.

The board approved a contract for accounting services from Clifton-Larson-Allen, CPA on an Eckhardt/Becker motion.

On a Haugh/Cahill motion the board approved a joint powers agreement with Southern Plains Spec Ed. Coop

On a Becker/Hanson motion the board approved the membership for the 2012-2013 school year for the MSHSL.

On a Hanson/Eckhardt motion the board unanimously approved the contracts for: Sharon Van Kley, Rob Norman, Terry Barnes, Randy Kuechenmeister, and Kevin Grant.

On a Fellows/Becker motion the board unanimously accepted the resignation of Laura Borris.

On a Cahill/Becker, motion the board approved the following medical leave for Barbara Hanson.

The board approved the literacy plan on an Eckhardt/Cahill motion.

The board accepted the resignation of principal Jack Eustice on a Cahill/Haugh motion. Unanimously approved.

On a Cahill/Becker motion, the board was dismissed at 7:56pm

4. Awarded bid for 630 tons of seal coating oil to H.G. Meges of Eau Claire, WI at $357,342.30. Two other bids were received from Flint Hills Resources LP of West Fargo, ND for $363,535.20 and from Jebro Incorporated of Sioux City, IA for $414,180.90.

5. Approved contract with Houston Engineer to update the ditch mapping and to authorize the County Auditor-Treasurer-Coordinator to sign the contract.

6.
