Three United South Central girl golfers and two from Blue Earth Area competed at the State Golf Meet last week.

USC's junior Ali Wood tied for fourth place at the Class A meet held Tuesday and Wednesday at Pebble Creek golf course in Becker.

Wood shot an 87 the first day of the tournament and was able to card an 80 on the second day, for a two-day total of 167.

The Rebels' Veronica Schindler finished tied for 36th place with a score of 191 and teammate Kyley Bullerman shot a 201 for a tie at the 53rd position.

Blue Earth Area's Allie Curtis finished the two-day Class AA State Tournament tied for the 61st spot.

The Buc senior shot a 92 (47-45) on the first day of the tournament and came in with a 99 (47-52) on the second day.

"Allie played solid golf in the tournament," Buc coach Al Cue says. "Overall, she struck the ball well and her short game was pretty good."

Curtis score on the last nine of the Ridges at Sand Creek course near Jordan went up due to a couple of tough holes, the coach says.

"But she worked her way past it with her typical great attitude and smile," Cue adds. "She has contributed a lot to Blue Earth Area golf and will be missed next season."

Teammate Autumn Drake was 74th at the tournament.

Drake shot a 109 (53-56) the first day, and followed it with a 95 (54-41) the second day.

Coach Cue says she struggled with her swing and the course on the first day and the first half of day two.

"Even though her score wasn't where she wanted it to be, Autumn represented herself, her family and the school in a positive way," the Buc mentor comments. "I was happy to see her finish so strongly on day two she deserved it and will use it to continue her growth as a player for next season."
