MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Mitchell's city attorney suffered a gash on his forehead that required stitches but was otherwise OK when he crashed a small airplane.
The Daily Republic newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1ks5MFy ) that 65-year-old Carl Koch recently bought a recreational light aircraft in Wisconsin and was flying it back to South Dakota last Saturday when the plane lost power near Caledonia, Minnesota, and crashed into a grove of trees.
Koch says the treetops absorbed the energy of the crash. He says he feels lucky he wasn't more seriously injured.
Koch says he doesn't plan to buy another plane anytime soon. He says he doesn't want to stress out his wife.
