Gymnasts compete at Huskie Invite

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer gymnasts took on the Jackson County Central Huskies on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The Huskies took the win with a total of 142.70 team points and the Bucs finished with 124.075.

All-around gymnast was from JCC, Sydnee Donnelli, who scored a total of 35.675. The second and third-place gymnast were also from the JCC?team.

However, the Bucs own Cassie Thompson took fourth in all around. She had a total point count of 33.15.

Christina Anderson was the only other BEA gymnast to place. She came in fourth place on the uneven bars with an average score of 7.85.

The Huskies Brandi Sether-Hassing placed first on the bars with an average of 9.075.

JCC?placed all four gymnasts in the vault with Donnelli coming out on top. Her average score on the vault was 9.375.

Again, JCC?took the top four spots on the beam. Adriane Rentschler was the top scoring gymnast with an average of 8.9.

Donnelli took another first-place position with an average of 9.3, this time it was for her floor routine. JCC?took all four places in that event as well.

The Bucs had a team total of 33.85 on the vault, 30.225 on the uneven bars, 27.725 on the beam and 32.275 for floor routines.

The junior varsity Buc gymnasts also went up against JCC and the Huskies took the win.

JCC’s JV squad finished the meet with a team total of 129.7.

BEA had a team total of 37.15; 14.7 on vault, 4.75 on bars, 8.3 on the beam and 9.4 for floor routines.

Brianna Ziegler was the only Buc to compete on the bar, she received a score of 4.75.

Ziegler and Kristine Brown attempted the vault. Their average scores were 7.4 and 7.3, respectively.

Kim Matejka and Marianne Nilsen took a turn to compete on the beams for the Bucs. Matejka received and average score of 3.5 and Nilsen received a 4.8.

Ziegler was given a 4.6 average for her floor routine and Brown was given a 4.8.

BEA?will compete again Thursday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. The meet will be held in the Winnebago gym and the Bucs will be hosting the Fairmont/Martin County West team.
