Gymnasts dominate in win

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team took first place in their meet against the St. James Saints on Friday, Jan. 25 in Winnebago.

The Bucs had a team total of 125.325; 34.325 on vault, 29.275 on bars, 28.25 on beam and 33.475 on floor.

The Saints finished with a total score of 103.025; 32.1 on vault, 20.25 on bars, 23.25 on beam and 27.325 on floor.

Cassie Thompson was the top gymnast with an all-around score of 32.90.

She placed first with her floor routine receiving a score of 8.9.

Thompson also tied for first on the beam with a 7.55. She placed first on the vault with a best score of 8.8 and was first on the bars with a 7.65.

The Bucs’ Haley Resutek was second place all-around gymnast. She had a total score of 32.25.

She tied with Thompson for first place on the beam with a score of 7.55. Resutek also came in second with her floor routine with an 8.725 and on the vault with a score of 8.675. She snagged the fourth-place position on the bars with an average score of 7.3.

Christine Anderson came in third place for all-around gymnast and received a total score of 30.925.

Anderson came in third place on the beam with a score of 7.0. She was also third on the vault with a score of 8.65 and the bar with an average of 7.325.

She also came in fourth place for her floor routine with a 7.95.

Also placing for the Bucs was Kayla Schaper on the beam. She came in fourth place and received a score of 6.15.

Erin Hurley of St. James took the fourth-place position for all-around gymnast. She had a total score of 30.55; 7.625 on the bar, 8.55 on the vault, 5.75 on the beam and 8.62 on the floor.

The Bucs JV gymnasts didn’t have as much luck against the Saints, although the total team scores were close.

BEA finished with 68.35; 23.65 on vault, 10 on bars, 14.3 on beam and 20.4 on floor. St. James had a 72.55; 27.4 on vault, 6.0 on bars 18.45 on beam and 20.7 on floor.

Mallorie Huber took first place for all around with a total of 24.75. She placed first in bar, second on the vault, third on beam and second on the floor.

Melissa Hagedorn was second place on the bar and the beam. She also placed first on the floor with a score of 7.2.

Kristine Brown took first place on the vault with a score of 8.0 and was third on the floor. Brianna Ziegler also placed on the vault, coming in third with a score of 7.7.

Rachel Joramo of St. James was second for all-around gymnast with a score of 17.6; 2.6 on bars, 7.95 on vault, 4.9 on beam and 6.8 on floor.
