Eagle gymnasts soar past Bucs

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team couldn’t seem to find their footing during their meet last Friday, Feb. 1 when they traveled to New Ulm to face the Eagles for a conference meet.

New Ulm finished with a 135.1 team total; 35.9 on the vault, 31.975 on the bars, 33.175 on the beam and 34.05 on the floor.

BEA had a team score of 123.8; 35.125 on the vault, 28.675 on the bars, 28.985 on the beam and 31.075 on the floor.

Cassie Thompson placed first on the vault. She received a score of 9.22.

Haley Resutek also placed on the vault. She received a score of 9.075 which put her in third place.

Resutek also came in fourth place with her floor routine. She had a score of 8.25.

Michaela Otterstatter of New Ulm took first place on the beam and floor and second place on uneven bars and vault.

The Eagles’ Kim Berg landed the first place position on the uneven bars.

The BEA JV?team also fell short against New Ulm. The Bucs finished with a team score of 77.15; 23.65 on the vault, 14 on the bars, 15.5 on the beam and 24 on the floor.

The Eagles finished with 117.7; 31.7 on the vault, 26 on the bars, 29 on the beam and 31 on the floor.

The Bucs JV gymnasts found their strength to be on the vault; two of the girls placed in that event.

Mallorie Huber tied for second place with a score of 8.2. Kristine Brown came in third place with a 7.85.

The gymnastics team traveled to Martin County West to compete in a conference tournament on Friday, Feb. 8. This meet was after the Register deadline, so results will be in the next issue.
