Elmore Raymond Roger Zierke, age 79, formerly of Elmore, died April 13, 2013, at St. Benedictine Health Care Center in Minneapolis.
Services were held April 16, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Elmore. The Rev. Dale Kohrs officiated. Burial was at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Elmore. Jacobsen & Winter Funeral Home in Blue Earth assisted the family with arrangements.
Raymond was born July 6, 1933, to Albert and Edna (Ahrens) Zierke in Elmore. He grew up and attended school in Elmore. In December of 1954, he married Marjorie Jensen and to this union, they were blessed with four children. Raymond also served his country with the United States Army from 1954-1956 where he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

After returning from the military, Raymond farmed until 1962 and then moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Pepsi Cola. He then returned to Elmore and continued in the farming industry. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Raymond is survived by his loving children, Katherine (Kent) Peel, of Fridley, Cynthia (Paul) Katchmark, of Coon Rapids, and Roger (Kathy) Zierke, of Brooklyn Park; his sister, Dorothy (Dean) Zielske, of Swea City, Iowa; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Burdean Hagedorn; and daughter, Debra Nicholson.
