Bucs and Saints split baseball double header

The Buccaneer baseball team traveled to St. Peter on Tuesday for a doubleheader against the Saints.

Game one was close but Blue Earth Area came out with the win, 3-2.

They had the first run in the third inning when Alex Stewart crossed home plate.

Dallas Barslou scored a run in the fifth, before the Saints had a chance to get on the board.

It was in the sixth inning when the game became close and the Saints brought two of their players home.

However, Seth Anderson cemented the win with another run in the sixth, with St. Peter unable to score another in the last inning.

Barslou was 0 for 4 hitting and had one stolen base and one run.

Anderson was 2 for 3, hitting a double and accounting for one run.

Stewart was 1 for 3, hitting a double and crossing the base for a run.

David Franta was 2 for 4 and had one RBI. Reid Rasmussen was 1 for 2 and also had one RBI.

Alec Huber pitched five innings for the Bucs, he allowed two runs, four hits and three bases on balls.

Barslou pitched two innings allowing just one hit.

Game 2

St. Peter 11, BEA 2

After winning the first game of the doubleheader, the Bucs lost their footing in the second game.

They lost 11-2 due to the Saints’ run on scoring in the seventh inning.

“We fell apart in the seventh inning,”?coach Todd Schmidtke says.

David Franta hit a double in the third and stole third and home, being the first to cross home plate for the Bucs in game two.

Christian Haugh followed suit and made it home in the third as well.

Those two runs for BEA evened out the score until a Saints player scored a run in the third, pulling ahead by one point.

After that, the Bucs couldn’t seem to get their batters home or keep the Saints from scoring.

St. Peter brought six runners across the plate in the seventh inning, coming out the winner.

Franta was 2 for 3 batting and had one run. He also stole two bases.

Haugh was 0 for 2, with one run and one walk.

Carter Hanson was 1 for 2 batting but had one RBI.

Jack Kennedy pitched four innings for BEA. He allowed four hits, five runs and three bases on balls. He also had two strikeouts.

Quinn Huisman pitched the other three innings. He had four hits, six runs, and four walks. He also had six strikeouts.

The Bucs went on to begin sub-section play in Fairmont on Saturday, May 25. This was after the Register deadline and details will be included in the next issue.

NRHEG 1, BEA 0

The Blue Earth Area baseball team hosted New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva last Monday in Winnebago.

They faced the Panthers in seven innings but ended with a loss, 1-0.

The batters for the Bucs included David Franta (1-3), Brandyn Olsen (1-3), Carter Hanson (1-3) and Seth Anderson (1-3). Anderson hit a double in the seventh inning. Franta pitched all seven innings and faced 26 batters. He had four strikeouts, seven hits and one walk. He allowed the one Panther run which gave NRHEG the win.

The Panther’s pitcher Manskau crossed the plate for the run in the first inning. He pitched all seven innings and struck out five BEA batters, allowed five hits and one base on balls.

BEA 11, USC?10

It was a close game until the very end, but the Buccaneers won it in the eighth inning.

The Blue Earth Area baseball team traveled to Wells to take on the United South Central Rebels last Friday.

The two teams stayed neck and neck through the first seven innings. It was a run by Carter Hanson in the eighth that sealed the 11-10 win for BEA.

Hanson had one stolen base in the first inning and one run in the eighth.

David Franta stole three bases and accounted for two runs. Dallas Barslou had one RBI?and one run.

Christian Haugh also stole a base and had two runs.

Brandyn Olsen stole one base, had one RBI and two runs.

Seth Anderson had three RBIs one in the third inning and two in the fifth. He also accounted for one run.

Quinn Huisman had two RBIs and one run, and Calvin Sanders also had one RBI.

Huisman pitched 3 2/3 innings. He allowed five hits, seven runs and five bases on balls. He had one strikeout.

Anderson came in for 1 1/3 innings. He allowed one run off three hits and issued two bases on balls. Anderson also had one strikeout.

Alec Huber pitched the next two innings. He allowed two runs off two hits and had two walks and one strikeout.

Barslou pitched the last inning and allowed just one hit.
