Buc runners take fourth, sixth at meet

Blue Earth Area girls and boys cross country teams came in fourth and sixth, respectively, at the Early Bird meet held in Fairmont on Aug. 23.

The 4000-meter races were organized by year, pitting runners against each other based on grade.

The girls came in fourth place with a 97:34, based on the sum of the top five race times.

“It was a respectable start for the girls,” Coach Tom Plocker says.

Taylor Grandgenett came in second in the 10th grade race with a time of 18:35.

Jenna Stevermer placed fifth in the grade 12 race and finished with a time of 20:31.

The boys placed sixth with a time of 83:47. Sophomore Zach Vaske came in with the fastest time for BEA?with a 15:29, which was good for fourth overall.

“Zack moved up nicely to nab a medal,”?Plocker says.

Seth Becker also finished in the top four of his grade with a time of 16:08.

An invitational was set to take place on Aug. 28, however that was cancelled. The next event for the Bucs cross country will be on Sept. 5 at Tri-City United High School.
