Elaine D. Haase, 89

Kiester Elaine Doris Haase, age 89, of Kiester, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, following a brief illness at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. Funeral Services were held on Oct. 11, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester. The Rev. Cherie Daniel officiated and interment was in Fairview Cemetery in rural Kiester. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells was in charge of arrangements.

Elaine Doris Haase was born Oct. 8, 1923, the daughter of Harry O. and Minnie S. (Reko) Schuler on a farm near Waldorf. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1941. Elaine attended Normal Training in Blue Earth and taught country school near Delavan. On Sept. 16, 1945, Elaine was united in marriage to Lawrence M. Haase, in Blue Earth. She was a factory worker at Telex in Blue Earth and Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, was a homemaker, and seamstress. Elaine was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Ruth Circle, and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed quilting, word searches, taking care of her flowers, and baking cookies and rolls for her grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by three children, Lloyd Haase (special friend, Diana Nelson), of Charlotte, N.C., Linda (Frank) Byrnes, of Rochester, and Judy (Jeff) Passer, of Kiester; five grandchildren, Paula (Terrence) Nixa, of Rochester, Dana (Craig) Cosgrove, of Byron, Tim (Katina) Passer, of Faribault, Kenny Passer, of Mankato, and Jacob Passer, of Kiester; four great-grandchildren, Lily Nixa, Zavier Nixa, Morgan Cosgrove, and Charlie Cosgrove; five sisters, Haleene Klatt, of Marshall, Fern Lemasters, of Jefferson City, Mo., Yvonne (Bud) Keeler, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Jean (Larry) Braby, of Pocahontas, Iowa, and Harriet Wade, of Homestead, Fla.; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence, in 2003; daughter, Betty, in 1950; twin grandsons; brothers-in-law, Gerald Klatt, Kenneth Lemasters, Art Wade, and Ellsworth Haase; and sister-in-law, Irene (Haase) Sasse.
