Merrian H. Koskovich

Blue Earth Merrian H. Koskovich, age 94, of Blue Earth, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center.

Funeral Services were held on Oct. 29, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. The Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiated. Burial was in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery, Bricelyn. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family with the arrangements.

Merrian was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Seely Township, Bricelyn, the daughter of Helmer and Mabel (Selthun) Gestie. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. She was raised and educated in Bricelyn where she was a 1936 graduate of Bricelyn High School. She was married to Lawrence E. Flo in Algona, Iowa, on June 18, 1938. To this union four children were born. Merrian was active in the Bricelyn Lutheran Church at this time including as a vocalist. Following Lawrence’s death in 1955, she was later married to Ross A. Moore of Elmore on Dec. 28, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in Pilot Grove Township for 18 years before moving to Blue Earth. Ross died in 1987 and Merrian was later welcomed into the Koskovich family when she married Arthur Koskovich on Dec. 30, 1989, in St. Clair. They continued to live in Blue Earth where she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church; participating in various committees, TLCW, and Circle. She sang in various church choirs for 80 years. Merrian loved music, poetry, flowers and bird watching.

Merrian is survived by her son, Carrol Flo, of Winnebago; daughters, Susan (Dan) Wiltse, of Blue Earth, and Rebecca (Stephen) Leicher, of Maple Grove; sister, Judith Asmus, of Blue Earth; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Marian Westphal; the Koskovich Extended Family; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; son, Ronald Flo, in 1997; brother, Robert Gesties; and sister, Irene Moore.
