The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team competed in their first meet of the year.
The Bucs hosted Worthington on Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Winnebago. Unfortunately, BEA's points couldn't quite add up to a win.
The Worthington Trojans finished with a total of 133.025; 34.425 in vault, 31.35 on bars, 32.75 on beam and 34.5 in floor routines.
The Buc gymnasts finished with a 109.175; 32.775 on vault, 22.05 on bars, 25.95 on beam and 28.4 for floor routines.
BEA's strongest scores in the meet seemed to be on the vault.
Haley Resutek placed second, in a three-way tie, for that event. She had a score of 8.65, along with Trojans' Liz Hayenga and Paige Kinley.
Resutek also fell into a good stride on the uneven parallel bars and placed fourth for that event. She received an average score of 6.95.
Worthington's Maria Contreras, Taylor Eggers and Paige Kinley took the top positions in that event.
The Bucs were unable to place individually in any of the other events for varsity competition, with all-arounds being swept by Worthington.
The BEA JV squad, despite being young, showed determination in each of the events.
Seventh grader Mateja Lane took fourth place with her floor routine. She had an average score of 5.0. She came in behind Worthington's JV gymnasts, Rachel Spartz, Claire Ludes and Kourtney Bauman.
Worthington JV won the meet with a team total of 102.7; 31.2 on the vault, 19.6 on bars, 27.8 on beam and 24.10 with floor routines.
BEA JV placed second and finished with a team total of 59.2; 20.3 on vault, 10.9 on bars, 12.5 on beam and 15.5 with floor routines.
The Bucs will host an invite on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Winnebago at 11 a.m.
