Murder charge filed in dismemberment case

May 23, 2014

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A southern California man is charged with murder in the case of a Minnesota woman whose dismembered remains were found in plastic bags scattered along railroad tracks last month.

A spokesman with the Riverside, California, District Attorney's Office says 28-year-old Christopher Marcus Brown was charged Friday. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.

Police found the remains of Jamie Lea Harmer on April 27 — in plastic bags scattered along the tracks.

Olive Pinske is Harmer's paternal grandmother. She says Harmer was a "lost little girl" who struggled with drugs for years, despite family attempts to help. Pinske says she was shocked at how her granddaughter was dismembered, but she says the family is relieved she was found, and can now put her to rest.
