The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer wrestling team started off the 2014 portion of this year's season with a big conference win over the New Ulm Eagles on Thursday evening.

The Bucs grounded the Eagles with a resounding score of 63-6.

The match was never in doubt, as BEA ended the night with nine pins out of the 14 matches.

The Bucs jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a 5-3 decision by Adam Legred at 106 pounds and a 5-2 win at 113 pounds by Zach Buseman.

The Eagles cut the lead to 6-3 when Buccaneer Wyatt Tungland lost a close battle, 4-2, at 120 pounds.

Camden Bowers put BEA back on track with a pin at 126 pounds, followed by another 6-point fall at 132 pounds by Alec Huber.

That put BEA up 18-3.

Jordan Stelter lost a 5-1 contest at 138 pounds, giving the Eagles three more points.

But, after that it was five Buccaneer pins in a row.

Mike Ankeny started it out at 145 pounds, followed by Luke Schavey at 152 pounds.

Kolt Gorg pinned his Eagle opponent at 160 pounds, late into his match. David Franta was able to pin his man at 170 pounds in the second period, while Gus Phillips had his opponent's shoulders on the mat in the first period.

The Buccaneers were ahead 48-6.

Martin Granados ended the Buccaneer onslaught with a pin in the first period of his 285 pound match up, making the final score 63-6.

The Bucs had little rest as they were slated to take on the Panthers of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Friday night, after the deadline for this week's edition of the Faribault County Register.

Details will be included in the next edition.
