BEA gymnasts compete at SCC meet

The regular season is over, but there's still some competing to do.

The Blue Earth Area gymnastics team traveled to St. Peter to participate in the South Central Conference gymnastics meet.

The Buccaneers and five other teams from the conference faced one another to determine the champs.

BEA finished in fifth out of six places during the meet. The maroon and gold gymnasts had a team total of 111.375.

They scored 30.675 on floor exercise, 25.4 on beam, 23.95 on bars and 31.35 on vault.

Fairmont/Martin County Area claimed the first place title in the meet with a team score of 135.225; 34.8 on floor, 33.15 on beam, 32.275 on bars and 35 on vault.

Waseca/New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva/Waterville-Elysian-Morristown took second place, New Ulm/Minnesota Valley Lutheran took third place, St. Peter was fourth and St. James Area was sixth.

Haley Resutek was the only BEA gymnast to place during the SCC?meet. She scored 8.825 with her floor exercise which earned her the sixth place position in that category.

Rebekah Berry of St. Peter took the top position in that event with a score of 9.175.

Resutek just missed the mark for placing in the all around category with a total score of 32.9. She finished that event in seventh place with an 8.475 on vault, 7.650 on bars, 7.950 on beam and 8.825 on floor.

Bryanna Peterson of Fairmont/MCA was the top gymnast in all around with a total score of 35.3; 8.7 on vault, 8.675 on bars, 9.075 on beam and 8.85 on floor.

Other gymnasts to place in all around include: second place, Rebekah Berry of St. Peter, scoring a total of 34.775; third place, Marina Chen of Waseca/ NRHEG/WEM, with a total score of 34.2; fourth place, Maddy Swain of Waseca/NRHEG/WEM, with a total score of 33.9; fifth place, Michaela Howk of New Ulm/MVL, with a total score of 33.8; and sixth place, Molly Klimek of New Ulm/MVL, with a total score of 33.1.

The top three positions on the vault included:?first place, Martha Olson, Fairmont/MCA, 9.175; second place, Allison Rosenhamer, New Ulm/MVL, 8.950; tie for third place, Rebekah Berry, St. Peter, 8.8; tie for third place, Michaela Howk, New Ulm/MVL, 8.8.

The top three positions on bars included: first place, Bryanna Peterson, Fairmont/MCA, 8.675; second place, Samantha Petry, Waseca/NRHEG/WEM, 8.5; third place, Rebekah Berry, 8.475.

Top three positions on beam included: first place, Bryanna Peterson, Fairmont/MCA, 9.075; second place, Marina Chen, Waseca/NRHEG/WEM, 8.725; third place, Michaela Howk, New Ulm/MVL, 8.65.

The top three positions on floor included: first place, Rebekah Berry, St. Peter, 9.175; second place, Allison Rosenhamer, New Ulm/MVL, 9.15; third place, Ellie Hohensee, New Ulm/MVL, 8.95.

The gymnastics section meet was held on Feb. 14 after the Register deadline. Results will be featured in the next issue.
