The Section 2A Meet officially brought Blue Earth Area's gymnastics season to an end.

The Section Meet included gymnastics teams from New Prague, Watertown-Mayer, Mankato West, Waconia, Waseca, New Ulm, St. Peter, Glencoe-Silver Lake and Blue Earth Area.

"The team that wins the meet goes on to State Team Competition and the top four gymnasts on each event and all around move on to State Individual Competition," coach Merissa Lore explains.

The Section meet was held at K&G Gymnastics facility in Mankato on Friday, Feb. 14.

Unfortunately, BEA will not be moving on and did not send any individuals on to State Competition either.

New Prague came out on top, while BEA?took eighth place in the meet.

"They are the defending State Champions from last year," Lore says.

Individuals from New Prague, Watertown-Mayer and Waconia will be advancing individually.

The team standings for the Section Meet are as follows:?New Prague, first, 149.7; Watertown-Mayer, second, 144.65; Mankato West, third, 137.95; Waconia, fourth, 136.05; Waseca, fifth, 135.85; New Ulm, sixth, 129.425; St. Peter, seventh, 127.8; BEA, eighth, 112.125; Mankato East, ninth, 107.7; and Glencoe-Silver Lake, 10th, 105.575.

"We had a lot of sickness and injuries this year, but the girls did a good job stepping up and doing what needed to be done," Lore says. "We had a fun season Erica (Nowak, co-coach) and I really enjoyed the girls and thank them for a positive experience."
