Girls track wins USC/AC Invite

The Blue Earth Area girls track and field squad took first place at the United South Central/Alden-Conger Invitational last Tuesday.

The girls team results were: BEA 87, MCW 71, USC/AC 56, NRHEG 48.

The 4 x 100-meter relay team of Paige Darrington, Miranda Johnson, Anne Franta and Skylee Bell took first place with a combined time of 52.24.

The 4 x 400-meter relay squad also came away with a first place finish. Shayna Stevermer (63.7), Alissa Norman (68.1), Karli Olsen (61.9) and Johnson (68.7) had a combined time of 4:22.40.

Also, the 4 x 800-meter relay team finished second. Lindsey Norman (2:43.8), Alissa Norman (2:47.9), Sofie Blair (2:47.9) and Mariah Halvorson (2:55.2) had a combined time of 11:15.00).

Franta finished first in the 400-meter dash (62.28) and finished second in the 200-meter dash (27.53).

Taylor Grandgenett took first place in the 300-meter low hurdles (48.15) and Shayna Stevermer took second (51.31); Grandgenett also finished second in the high jump (4-8).

Melissa Hagedorn finished second in the pole vault (7-0); Johnson took second in the long jump (14-8); Olsen was first in the 800-meter run (2:37.90) and Nyla Anderson finished second in the triple jump (29-10 3/4).

Other Results

4 x 200-meter relay

Darrington (28.8), Blair (29.1), Andrea Lawrence (33.4) and Hagedorn (29.2) finished fourth with a combined time of 2:00.46.

100-meter dash

Skylee Bell (third, 13.39), Brooke Frandle (14.76) and Mariah Twedt (15.01).

200-meter dash

Katie Allis (30.63) and Katrine Robertson (32.66).

400-meter dash

Norman (fourth, 70.34) and Lawrence (fifth, 72.72).

100-meter high hurdles

Grandgenett (third, 17.65), Hagedorn (fourth, 17.96), Malorie Huber (18.78) and Zoe Thompson (18.98).

300-meter low hurdles

Huber (fourth, 56.53) and Thompson (eighth, 59.06).

Shot put

Jennifer Quintero (fifth, 28-4), Twedt (26-9), Emma Olson (25-6), Mariah Mauris (24-9), Norman (24-8), Christa Phillips (22-0), Lauren Schoenfelder (21-9) and Bailee Swanson (19-0).

Discus

Quintero (third, 82-10), Twedt (fourth, 79-4), Sam Ripley (fifth, 75-0) and Emma Olson (59-3).

High jump

Darrington (third, 4-8), Ripley (fifth, 4-6) and Nicole Lium (4-6).

Pole vault

Lium (third, 6-6), Madalyn Gaydon (6-0), Julia Hanson (5-6).

Long jump

Sidney Blair (12-8 1/2).

Triple jump

Norman (fifth, 28-11 1/4), Lawrence (26-7 1/4) and Sofie Blair (26-7 1/4).

800-meter run

Sierra Halvorson (fifth, 2:51.26) and Sidney Blair (3:04.26).

1600-meter run

Signe Olson (fifth, 6:29.10), Jenna Stevermer (6:32.00), Sierra Halvorson (6:32.40) and Callie Stevermer (6:36.10).

Buccaneer Invite

The Blue Earth Area girls track and field squad finished second at the Buc Invite held on April 12.

The girls team results were: Fairmont 303, BEA 291, Waseca 283, MCW 208, USC/AC 176.5, St. James 168, BEA JV 117.5.

The 4 x 200-meter relay team consisting of Paige Darrington (28.3), Miranda Johnson (27.5), Alissa Norman (29.4) and Lindsey Norman (29.5) captured first place with a combined time of 1:54.8.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team also took first place: Taylor Grandgenett (61.1), Anne Franta (60.5), Shayna Stevermer (63.7) and Karli Olsen (61.4).

BEA took second in the shuttle hurdle relay as well. The team consisted of: Grandgenett (17.3), Melissa Hagedorn (18.6), Zoe Thompson (19.4) and Stevermer (18.3).

Johnson also finished first in the 100-meter dash (13.4); Grandgenett finished first in the 300-meter low hurdles (47.2) and second in the high jump (5-0) and Hagedorn finished second in the pole vault (7-6).

Sammy Naumann, Maddi Oelke, Lauren Schoenfelder and Justina Gaydon combined for 59.0.

100-meter dash

Darrington (14.2), Brooke Frandle (15.1) and Lindsey Phillips (15.4).

Shot put
