The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team was nearly as cold as the 40 degree temperature they were playing in last Thursday.
The Bucs fell to the St. Peter Saints by a score of 7-0, for their second loss of the season. Both losses came at the hands of South Central Conference foes.
Buc senior Chance Andrews took the No. 1 singles position and faced Saints senior Matthew Huber and lost 6-2, 6-0.
BEA junior Leon Chaudhari lost 6-1, 6-1 to Zeke Haugen at the No. 2 singles position.
Two of the closest matches of the day came at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots.
Buc sophomore Chandler Kienitz lost his first set to Rafat Solaimon in a close 7-5 battle. He fell 6-1 in the second game at No. 3 singles.
At No. 4 singles, BEA's Jaron King, a junior, lost his first game against Drew Elofson by a score of 6-2. But in the second game, he kept the score close at 7-5.
In doubles action, juniors Martin Granados and Justus Thelen teamed up at No. 1 doubles to face the Saints Alec Willsen and Avery Bachman. The Buc duo lost 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 doubles, eighth-grader Spencer Petersen and seventh-grader Parker Kienitz lost 6-0, 6-0 to Ben Gault and Joey More.
The eighth grade Buc duo of Mason Hehr and Spenser Timmerman lost 6-0, 6-1 to Aaron Leeh and Zeke Kyonne at the No. 3 doubles spot.
This week the Buccaneers are finally set to host several home matches. They will take on Worthington on Tuesday, then host St. James on Thursday and Albert Lea on Friday.
