Winnebago Raymond G. Ehlers, age 82, of Winnebago, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at St. Luke's Care Center in Blue Earth.
A Memorial Service was held on April 18, 2014, at Parker Oaks Dikker Hall in Winnebago. The Rev. Durene Cornell officiated.
Raymond Gene Ehlers was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Fairmont, to Ira Clifford and Lucile Edna (Personius) Ehlers. He was raised in the Fairmont and Winnebago area, helping his father farming and raising horses. He married Betty Anne Winch on July 31, 1950, at the Baptist Parsonage in Winnebago.?He worked for Leon Oliver as a farm hand from 1948 to 1958, the City of Winnebago Water Department from 1966 to 1976, Electro Craft from 1979 until its closing in 1986, and Crown Fixtures up until his stroke in 1989 when he retired. During his retirement he worked part-time for the Fairmont Sentinel. Raymond loved to talk and share his stories about his farming life. He loved taking his family camping and fishing. He loved the outdoors and for a brief period owned his own landscaping business.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie Kay (Brian) Louks, of Owatonna, and Jan Marie (William) Reineking, of Winnebago; son, Jerry Dean (Dot) Ehlers, of Wendell, N.C.; sisters, Ruth McGowan, of Fairmont, Marilyn Ivers, of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Eunice Stefanski, of Fairmont; brother, Robert Ehlers, of Bay Port; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Jeffrey; brother, Roger; great-granddaughter; one niece; and two nephews.
