Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis player Chance Andrews got his second win in a row last Thursday night, when the Bucs hosted the Saints of St. James.
But, it was the only victory the young Bucs could muster and they fell 6-1 to the visitors from St. James.
Andrews, one of two seniors on the Buccaneer squad, took on Brandon Hjelmer, a freshman at the No. 4 singles spot.
Andrews took the first game 6-4, then won a long battle in the second game, 7-6 (7-5).
Leon Chaudhari and Martin Granados paired up at No. 1 doubles and nearly pulled out a win after a very long match against Will Runge and Connor Engel.
The Buc duo lost the first match 7-6 (7-3), then had another long game and fell 6-7 (12-10).
At No. 1 singles the Buc's Hunter Myers lost to John Foss 6-2, 6-1.
Jaron King fell 6-1,6-0 to Connor Olson at No. 2 singles. Chandler Kienitz lost to Sandin Skow 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Justus Thelen and Spencer Petersen lost their No. 2 doubles match to Cole Skow and Colin Hoppe, 6-1, 6-3.
At No. 3 doubles, Parker Kienitz and Mason Hehr lost 6-0, 6-1 to Aaron Plymn and Cameron Geise.
This week the Bucs travel to New Ulm on Friday.
Worthington 6, BEA 1
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer tennis team could only notch one victory in their first home match of the season and lost to Worthington, 6-1.
Gaining the Bucs' only win in the match was senior Chance Andrews, playing at the No. 4 singles position. Andrews won a hard-fought, three-set match against sophomore Jonah McDonald. The Buccaneer took the first set 7-6 (7-1) then came through with a 6-3 win in the second set
Buc sophomore Chandler Kienitz was involved in a tight three set battle at the No. 3 singles spot, but ended up losing.
After falling in the first set to Worthington's Nick Newman by a score of 6-1, Kienitz came back and pulled out a long 7-6 (7-3) win in the second set. Newman, a junior, took set three by a score of 6-0.
Buc senior Hunter Myers returned to play at No. 1 singles, but lost to Carter Lindner, 6-0, 6-1.
Buccaneer junior exchange student Leon Chaudhari faced another junior, Andrew Johnson at No. 2 singles and fell 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, a couple of BEA juniors, Jaron King and Martin Granados, took on senior Ben Daeden and sophomore Bryan Daeden in the No. 1 doubles spot. The Buc duo lost 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Buc junior exchange student Justus Thelen and eighth grader Spencer Petersen suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss to senior Isaac Hauselog and junior Levi Blanchard.
Seventh-grader Parker Kienitz and eighth-grader Spenser Timmerman took on juniors D.J. Berger and Orissa Nitibhon and lost 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 doubles position.
Austin 7, BEA 0
The Buccaneers boys tennis team dropped their third match of the season, falling to Austin by a score of 7-0 on Monday night.
It was a very windy 60 degree day in Austin, with the Buccaneers trying to cope with both the breeze and their opponents' serves.
Chandler Kienitz led off at the No. 1 singles position for the Bucs, losing 6-0, 6-0 to Colten Detwieler.
At the No. 2 doubles spot, BEA's Chance Andrews lost 6-2, 6-0 to Jeremy Olmsted.
Leon Chaudhari lost 6-3, 6-2 to Seth Hebrink at the No. 3 singles spot.
At No. 4 singles, Spencer Petersen fell 6-3, 6-0 to Justin Bergemann.
In doubles play, the Bucs' Jaron King and Martin Granados teamed up at the No. 1 position and lost to Carter Steichen and Levi Verkandt, 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Justus Thelen and Mason Hehr played against Ethan Anderson and Owen Nelson and lost by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Parker Kienitz and Spenser Timmerman were at the No. 3 doubles spot and fell 6-0, 6-3 to Clyde Carver and Sawyer Mayers.
