It's time to tally one in the win column.
The Blue Earth Area softball team had a slow start to their season, but they earned their first win on April 25 versus the United South Central Rebels, 14-4.
"And, after that USC game we all let out a sigh of relief we finally put a number in the win column,"?coach Abby Bloomquist says.
The girls only needed six innings to top the Rebels.
"We've been playing tough games and had tough breaks, so it was fun and exciting to be so successful," the coach adds.
Buc pitcher Bethany Olson took the mound for all six innings.
And, as for hitting, all of the girls managed to get on base.
"As a team we were much more aggressive in the box and on the paths, and were able to generate offensive momentum," Bloomquist says.
She adds that the Bucs also took advantage of their opponent's mistakes, which is something they have been striving to do all season.
This win puts the girls overall season record at 1-7 while their South Central Conference record remains at 0-3.
They were scheduled to play last Monday and Tuesday; however, those games were rescheduled for later dates due to rain.
But, the coach is hoping to continue the momentum once the rain lets up.
"We're hoping to continue our offensive and defensive play as we enter the second half our of schedule," Bloomquist says.
