Bucs baseball squad falls to MCW

BEA has big 5th inning, but can’t capitalize

It was another close call.

The Blue Earth Area baseball team lost by just one run when they went up against Martin County West last Friday.

The two teams were tied through seven innings until a MCW?run put them in the lead, 7-6, in the eighth inning.

MCW started out the scoring by bringing in two runs in the third and two in the fourth.

The maroon and gold scored all six of their runs in the fifth inning, and MCW tied up the game by scoring two more runs in the sixth.

Mathew Bell pitched three innings for the Bucs. He allowed four runs off seven hits. He also had three strikeouts and issued three walks.

Quinn Huisman pitched four innings. He allowed three runs on four hits. He had three strikeouts and allowed four walks.

Huisman also contributed to the Bucs' offense; he scored one run from three at bats.

Also scoring runs for the Bucs was David Franta, who took two bases on balls and scored one run.

Luke Schavey had two hits and one base on balls, which resulted in one BEA?run.

Alex Stewart was two for three at bat and he also put one run on the board for the Bucs.

Kellen Jacobs also scored a run in the fifth inning.

Alec Huber had three at bats, hitting a double and scoring one run.

This loss puts the Bucs' overall record at three wins and three losses and their South Central Conference record remains at 0-2.
