The Blue Earth Area softball team traveled to Waseca for a doubleheader which ended 0-2 for the Buccaneers.

"Although we didn't come up with a win I was impressed to see the girls step into the box wanting to crush the ball,"?BEA?coach Abby Bloomquist says.

The coach says the girls struggled to produce consistently stong innings and they let a couple get away from the team.

"But, in both games we proved to have both tough offense and defense,"?Bloomquist adds.

Game 1

Waseca 15, BEA?8

Bethany Olson was 3 for 4, Caitlyn Holm was 1 for 3, Makenzie Slette was 3 for 4, Ciarra Olson was 1 for 3, Kylie Ahl was 3 for 4, Angie Cyphers was 2 for 4, Annaliese Klinkner was 1 for 4 and Sydney Henningsen was 1 for 3 at the plate.

Game 2

Waseca 13, BEA 3

While they still couldn't produce a win in the second game, Kylie Ahl stepped up to the plate and hit the second homerun of the season. Ahl was 2 for 3 at the plate.

Bethany Olson was 1 for 3, Makenzie Slette was 2 for 3, Angie Cyphers was 2 for 3 Annaliese Klinkner was 1 for 2 and Audrey McDonald was 1 for 1.

BEA vs. Fairmont

The Blue Earth Area girls softball team played a double header against Fairmont last Tuesday.

The Bucs hosted the Cardinals on their home turf, where the Cards were 2-0.

"Fairmont proved to be a good hitting team," softball coach Abby Bloomquist says.

And Blue Earth couldn't get the hits to match.

Bethany Olson was 1 for 2 at the plate, Caitlyn Holm was 1 for 1 and Makenzie Slette was 1 for 2; the only three Bucs to make contact in the first game against Fairmont.

The second game didn't have a much better outcome, but the Bucs did manage to bring one runner across the plate.

Sydney Henningsen was 1 for 2 at the plate scoring the sole run for the Bucs.

Bethany Olson was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Kylie Ahl and Brianna Ziegler were both 1 for 1 at bat. Slette was 1 for 3 and Annaliese Klinkner was 2 for 2.

"Fairmont does not rely on small ball, but instead look to strong sticks throughout their order,"?Bloomquist says.

According to the coach, Fairmont managed two grand slams during the double header.

"Fairmont was just a solid hitting team," Bloomquist says. "We couldn't get our offense going."

JCC?Tournament

The Blue Earth Area softball team participated in a tournament at Jackson County Central High School Saturday, May 10. The Buccaneers played three games and won two of them.

"For the first time this season, the girls were able to gel and played like the tough team I've always known them to be,"?BEA?softball coach Abby Bloomquist says.

According to the coach, the tournament gave the team a chance to play around with the line up, and gave the pitchers a chance to work on their games.

"Both Angie Cyphers and Bethany Olson proved they can shut teams down,"?Bloomquist says. "And our defense was there to back them up."
