Larry L. Larkin, 79
Blue Earth Larry Lee Larkin, age 79, died peacefully at his son’s home in Golden Valley, on June 24, after a short battle with cancer. Larry was comforted on his journey with his family at his side.
Larry was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Fairmont, to Harvey and Elgene Larkin. He was a longtime businessman in Blue Earth and served on the City Council. Previously he had been a math teacher and worked for NASA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a graduate of Mankato State College. He married Jeanne Koenck on Aug. 23, 1959, in Fairmont. They moved to Blue Earth in 1969 and it was their home until their new life in heaven. He was a volunteer at Interfaith Caregivers and a member of St. Paul Lutheran, Blue Earth. In 1951, Larry was the State All-Around Gymnastic Champion. Larry loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Survivors include his three children, Kathy (Kris) Larkin, of Green Bay, Wis., Dan (Mary) Larkin, of Golden Valley, and Laurie (Dean) Schons, of Gaylord; granddaughters, Lindsay Franke and Abby (Travis) Fritsvold; grandsons, Tyler Franke and Blake Schons; great-grandson, Ramsey Fritsvold; brother, Darrell Larkin; and sisters, Gloria Sandberg and Nona Wade.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, in 2011; his parents; and brother, Loren Larkin.
A Memorial Service was held June 26, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Blue Earth.
