The Blue Earth VFW Post 4580 advanced to the 2nd District Tournament in Mankato thanks to three consecutive wins in the consolation bracket.
Blue Earth 10,
St. James 0
The second playback game for Blue Earth was no contest. BE defeated St. James 10-0, last Monday at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
Kaylan Legred had three hits and also scored three runs.
Logan Jahnke and Adam Legred both contributed two hits as well.
Jahnke struck out five and allowed no runs on two hits in four innings of work.
Collin Bell had two strikeouts and pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
Blue Earth 2,
Kaylan Legred produced back to back three-hit games as Blue Earth defeated Mapleton 2-1, last Monday, in the first play back game at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont.
Legred scored the winning run for Blue Earth on a passed ball during the seventh inning.
Logan Jahnke dropped a bunt to advance Jordan Huse into scoring position, earlier in the inning.
Jahnke pitched all seven innings and had seven strikeouts.
Blue Earth 6,
Lake Crystal 5
Blue Earth VFW Post 4580 jumped out to an early lead against Lake Crystal on July 19.
Blue Earth was able to hold off a late seventh inning rally by Lake Crystal and prevail 6-5.
Blue Earth was up early 3-0 in the first three innings and added two more runs in the fifth inning.
Lake Crystal found some life and used three hits and a walk to get back in the mix of things. They scored two quick runs in the seventh inning and loaded the bases.
However, Blue Earth starting pitcher Adam Legred, recorded one of his seven strikeouts. Legred was replaced by Alan Davids to get out of the jam and preserve the win.
Legred pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits.
Lake Crystal loaded the bases and scored three more runs.
Davids forced a grounder and ended the game with a double play.
Logan Jahnke finished the game 2 for 4 and Kaylan Legred was 2 for 3.
Kaylan and Adam Legred got Blue Earth on the board first. Up 2-0, Blue Earth added another in the third.
Blue Earth 4
Blue Earth opened the Sub-District playoff action with a disappointing 8-4 loss to Mapleton on Friday, July 18.
BE jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the fourth inning.
Cole Hendrickson pitched for BE, allowing eight runs on six hits.
Mapleton took back the lead with a five-run fifth inning and put the game away.
