Buffalo Center, Iowa Carrie Grace Eastvold, age 101, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, Iowa. A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the United Methodist Church of Buffalo Center, Rev. Deb Devine officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Winnebago.
Carrie was born on Dec. 19, 1912, at her family's farmplace in rural Winnebago. She was the daughter of Clarence and Maryette (Holloway) Eastvold. After graduation from Amboy High School in 1930, Carrie attended Mankato Commercial College. She was then employed at the Dayton Company in Minneapolis. She became the live-in housekeeper for the George Dayton family in Wayzata, where she lived until her retirement. After retirement, Carrie resided in Hopkins, until she moved to the Timely Mission Nursing Home in the fall of 2006.
Carrie is survived by her brother Carlton (Thelma) Eastvold, of Winnebago, and was a special "Auntie Toots" to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Maryette; her sisters Ida (Ed) Larson and June (Orville) Olson; and her brothers Mitchell (Jeanette), Kenneth, and Wayne (Edith).
